Facts About Fadia A. Rafiq's KPK OTT Arrest and Fairuz's Shock
Pekalongan Regent Fadia A. Rafiq has been nabbed in an operation by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) linked to alleged corruption in the procurement of goods and services, including outsourcing. Fadia A. Rafiq is the daughter of former actor and singer A. Rafiq, and the elder sister of actress Fairuz A. Rafiq. In the operation, 11 people were detained, including Pekalongan’s Secretary to the Regency Mohammad Yulian Akbar. Fairuz A. Rafiq also spoke about her brother’s arrest. Details as reported by detikJateng follow. Fadia was flown to Jakarta after the arrest. The KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed: ‘Yes, during the closed investigative activity, the team secured several individuals in Pekalongan, including the Regent. The team then brought her to Jakarta for further examination.’ Several Pekalongan Regency officials were questioned by the KPK at the Pekalongan City Police Headquarters. The officials were observed leaving in several red-brand government vehicles; at least four vehicles were inside the police compound, while another parked along Diponegoro Street. Vehicles included Toyota Rush and Toyota Avanza models with plates such as G 1269 XB, G 1090 XB, G 1223 XB, G 84 B, and G 1256 XB. Information indicated at least four senior Pekalongan officials were being questioned on the second floor of the Mapolres Pekalongan City building, including heads of service and a head of division. The KPK investigators conducted marathon questioning of the officials at the Mapolres Pekalongan Kota building, and after questioning, several officials were transported to Jakarta by bus. The Pekalongan Police Chief, AKBP Riki Yariandi, said the police only facilitated space for the KPK and that the officials, including the secretary to the regency and some department heads (and possibly subdistrict heads), were accommodated. He noted security had been tight since Monday evening and that the group was later sent to Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon. The KPK detained a total of 11 people in Pekalongan, including the Pekalongan Secretary to the Regency Mohammad Yulian Akbar. The KPK said the operation involved both public servants and private sector participants, including a hospital vendor, and that the procurement and outsourcing services were among the areas under investigation. ‘The alleged crime relates to procurement of goods and services (PBJ), including outsourcing within the Pekalongan environment,’ KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated. While the KPK has not disclosed further case details, there were allegations that certain vendors were steered to win contracts. The KPK has seized evidence ranging from electronics to vehicles; monetary assets are also reported to be part of the seized items and will be verified. The evidence is still en route from Pekalongan to Jakarta. Fairuz A. Rafiq and her husband Sonny Septian expressed astonishment at the news. ‘In reality, everyone is an adult; they have their own lives and responsibilities. They manage their own families and their own livelihoods; we also have our own families to run,’ Sonny Septian commented in Tapos, Depok, on Tuesday. He added that they do not yet know the details of the matter and have not been informed of further developments.
