REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG – Residents of RW 08 in Cangkuang Subdistrict, Bandung Regency, have begun anticipating a potential clean water crisis as the prolonged dry season approaches. One measure taken by the community is to build a well to maintain the availability of clean water. Local resident Riri stated that water shortages frequently occur every dry season. She said the existence of the well, built through the aspirations of Bandung Regency DPRD member Arya Setiawan, makes residents more at ease facing the dry season. “Usually during the dry season, we struggle to get clean water. Now it’s a relief with the well,” said Riri in Bandung on Tuesday (5/5/2026). According to her, the well assists the community’s daily needs, so residents no longer worry about water shortages when the dry season lasts long. Bandung Regency DPRD member from the Gerindra Faction, Arya Setiawan, said the well construction was carried out in collaboration with Yayasan Nur Leli Berkah and support from residents who donated the land. He assessed that the clean water crisis is an annual problem that requires direct solutions at the community level. “The problem is real (clean water crisis) and recurs every year. So when the aspiration comes, the approach must be directly to the solution. Clean water is a basic need,” said Arya. Arya explained that the well drilling was done using the geoelectric method so that the water source found can be utilised in the long term. Chairman of the Board of Yayasan Nur Leli Berkah, Nabil Khansa, added that access to clean water is a fundamental need that affects various community activities. “If access to water is difficult, other activities will certainly be disrupted. So we see this as something that must be prioritised,” said Nabil. Previously, the West Java Climatology Station of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency revealed that the West Java region has entered the dry season earlier with a duration expected to last longer than the previous year.
