Jakarta (ANTARA) - ExxonMobil Cepu Limited (EMCL), a contractor under the Cooperation Contract (KKKS), has increased the oil production of Well Banyu Urip A07 from 4,800 barrels per day (BOPD) to 12,300 BOPD, an increase of 7,500 BOPD. This achievement stems from Well Services (WS) on Well Banyu Urip A07 through the Water Shut-Off (WSO) programme, i.e., the effort to reduce unwanted water inflow within the well so that production can be maximised. “This success demonstrates that the right technology intervention can deliver significant production gains in a relatively short time,” said SKK Migas Head Djoko Siswanto in a written statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday. The production increase far exceeded the initial target, namely 1,000 BOPD. The additional production directly contributed to the enhancement of national oil lifting. “This is evidence that optimising existing wells can directly drive an increase in national oil lifting,” he said. In addition to significantly increasing oil production, WSO also yields time and operational cost efficiencies. Operationally, he said all work was conducted without using rigless operation (rig) by utilising a wireline unit, making the execution faster and more economical. From the budget side, cost realisation stood at about 57 percent of the total approved budget, reflecting effective and efficient programme management. “Best practices like this need to be replicated in other fields to accelerate achievement of national lifting targets and strengthen energy availability,” said Djoksis, his familiar nickname. The WSO programme was carried out to stop unwanted water inflow from the lower zone of the well so the well can yield a higher oil proportion and optimise its production potential. He said the methods applied include installing a bridge plug, recompletion (re-perforation), and stimulation acidising. This technological approach has proven effective in optimising the potential of existing wells without the need for new drilling, so the additional production can be obtained faster and more cost-effectively. Banyu Urip Field in Cepu Block, Bojonegoro, East Java, is one of Indonesia’s largest oil fields operated by ExxonMobil Cepu Limited (EMCL). Before the Banyu Urip Infill Clastic (BUIC) Project, Exxon production only reached 150,000 barrels per day. Now, after the Banyu Urip Infill Clastic (BUIC) Project, the figure has risen to 180,000 barrels or equivalent to 25–30 percent of national oil lifting.
