Extra transport for Idul Fitri

JAKARTA (JP): The city administration has prepared extra
transportation facilities in anticipation of the Idul Fitri
exodus.

The extra services at nine bus terminals, seven train
stations, two airports and one seaport will start on Feb. 13, the
Jakarta office of the Ministry of Transportation announced on
Tuesday.

The bus terminals will accommodate 8,444 buses plying Sumatra,
West, Central and East Java. The East Jakarta Pulo Gadung bus
terminal will be a departure center for 2,911 buses, Kampung
Rambutan for 1,934 buses, Kali Deres for 1,474 buses, Lebak Bulus
737 for buses, and the Tanjung Priok for 203 buses. The state-
owned PPD bus company will provide 500 buses, and the Damri
company 150 buses. Another 535 buses will be made available at
two additional terminals.

The government has prepared 12 sea vessels which will depart
from the Tanjung Priok port. The vessels can carry 80,146
passengers bound for East Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi.

Garuda Indonesian has also increased its domestic flights with
a capacity of 2,684 seats. The domestic flights from Soekarno-
Hatta and Halim Perdanakusuma airports will cater to 456,578
passengers.

Garuda is increasing the number of seats for its international
flights by 2,786 seats, bringing the total number of seats to
87,314.

The state-owned train company Perumka has 48,226 seats
available which it can increase by 150 percent. Passengers will
be able to board trains at Kota railway station in West Jakarta,
Gambir, Senen and Tanah Abang in Central Jakarta, Tanjung Priok
in North Jakarta and Manggarai in South Jakarta. (yns)
