The Jakarta Provincial Government through its Department of Transportation (Dishub) has officially announced the suspension of the odd-even vehicle restriction system (ganjil genap) throughout the capital city. The policy has been implemented following the designation of public holidays and joint leave for the Nyepi Festival marking the Saka New Year 1948 and the Eid al-Fitr celebration 1447 Hijri.

For those planning to conduct activities in Jakarta or undertake mudik (homecoming) travel, here are the details of the suspension schedule and when regulations will resume normal operation.

The odd-even restriction will be suspended for seven consecutive days, with normal operations resuming on Wednesday, 25 March 2026. Drivers are required to resume compliance with their vehicle licence plate restrictions from that date onwards to avoid sanctions from electronic traffic law enforcement (ETLE) or manual traffic police fines.

It should be noted that operating hours will revert to their standard schedule.

Although the odd-even system on Jakarta’s main thoroughfares is suspended, drivers undertaking inter-city travel must pay attention to traffic management on toll roads as implemented by the National Police Traffic Coordination Unit (Korlantas Polri). Unlike city roads, the Odd-Even Toll Road system for mudik and balik (return journey) traffic remains in effect according to schedules set by the traffic authority.

Syafrin Liputo, Head of the Jakarta Department of Transportation, urged the public to maintain safety and comply with traffic regulations despite the temporary suspension of vehicle restrictions. “We hope the public remains orderly on the roads for the comfort of all during this extended holiday period,” he said.
