The widening project on the Surabaya–Gempol Toll Road has reached 62.30 per cent as of 2 March 2026.

Ria Marlinda Paallo, Vice President Corporate Secretary & Legal of PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, said Jasamarga continues to accelerate works to maximise progress ahead of the peak exodus and returns for Idul Fitri.

‘During that period, construction works on site will be temporarily halted to maintain smooth traffic flow,’ Ria said in a written statement on Friday, 6 March 2026.

The Surabaya–Gempol Toll Road is approximately 43 kilometres long and serves as a strategic corridor linking Surabaya with Sidoarjo, Pasuruan and Malang, as well as being a crucial part of the industrial and logistical connectivity in East Java. The high level of vehicle movement makes increasing road capacity an important step to ensure smooth travel for the public and for goods distribution.

Ria stated that this toll route also benefits East Java’s tourism sector. The route provides a main access to popular destinations such as Malang, Batu, Pasuruan and the mountain tourism areas in the Bromo–Tengger–Semeru region.

Jasamarga, according to Ria, has coordinated with relevant parties in implementing traffic management and optimising the available lanes. ‘Thus road users can continue to traverse the Surabaya–Gempol Toll Route safely and comfortably,’ she said.

As the toll road operator, Jasamarga is committed to strengthening the reliability of infrastructure and increasing the capacity of the Trans-Java Toll Road network. Through planned, high-standard works, Jasamarga aims to ensure regional connectivity remains intact and road users’ journeys are safe, smooth and comfortable.

Previously, the widening project began in October 2025 and is being carried out by PT PP (Persero) Tbk. The widening work is conducted at Kejapanan–Gempol (KM 769+450 to 772+650) on the Surabaya–Gempol toll road, with a contract value of Rp 140.3 billion. The widening is targeted to be completed within 270 calendar days or 9 months.
