Spokesperson for the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Dwi Anggia, has explained why some Pertamina general fuel filling stations (SPBU) are not selling subsidised fuels such as Pertalite. According to her, this is due to changes in service provision. “For several Pertamina SPBUs in Jakarta, there is indeed an upgrade, a change in status from regular SPBUs to Signature SPBUs, which provide premium services and facilities,” said Anggia, as quoted from Antara on Friday, 8 May 2026. Anggia stated that subsidised fuels such as Pertalite and biosolar are still sold at regular SPBUs. Therefore, she emphasised that the non-sale of Pertalite at some SPBUs is not because Pertamina has stopped distributing subsidised fuels. “It’s just that there are changes in services and status at some of the SPBUs,” Anggia explained. She also assured that PT Pertamina (Persero) through PT Pertamina Patra Niaga is obliged to distribute Special Assignment Fuel Type (JBKP) Ron 90 or Pertalite through distributors or SPBUs that have been assigned by BPH Migas. “Assignments are carried out quarterly to ensure quota availability, distributors, and consumer needs in regencies/cities,” said Anggia. Anggia’s statement is a response to the viral announcements from several Pertamina SPBUs that have stopped selling Pertalite. These announcements were followed by changes in the status of several Pertamina SPBUs to Signature SPBUs. According to the Pertamina Patra Niaga website, Pertamina Signature SPBUs offer various additional services. For example, consumers who refuel a minimum of Rp 350,000 will receive free tyre polishing services. In addition, staff provide bins for consumers who wish to dispose of small waste such as tissues or paper. These SPBUs are also equipped with public facilities, from prayer rooms with prayer equipment including mukena, sarongs, and the Quran, ablution areas, to clean toilets.
