Escape Route of Acid Attack Suspect on KontraS Activist Uncovered; Changed Clothes While Fleeing Then Dispersed
Jakarta – A combined team of police officers has traced the escape route of perpetrators who carried out an acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Vice Coordinator of the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS).
The Director of General Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimum) of the Metro Jaya Police Regional Command, Senior Police Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, stated that his team had mapped out the escape route of the perpetrators based on CCTV recordings obtained from various locations.
Based on surveillance camera or CCTV footage obtained, the perpetrators scattered in the Salemba area of Central Jakarta after carrying out their action.
“The perpetrators fled on two motorcycles and scattered in different directions,” he said on Monday, 16 March 2026.
Two perpetrators fled by going against traffic from Jalan Salemba towards the Senen area, then moved through Jalan Kramat Raya towards Gondangdia until eventually reaching South Jakarta.
Meanwhile, two other perpetrators fled via a different route towards the Matraman area up to Jatinegara. Through CCTV footage, they were detected moving towards Jalan Otto Iskandardinata in East Jakarta.
During their flight, it was also discovered that one of the perpetrators apparently changed clothes to cover their tracks.
Through further analysis of CCTV footage and communication devices, the perpetrators are believed to have scattered towards several areas, including Kalibata, Ragunan, and Bogor.
The combined team, which involved investigators from the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Metro Jaya Police Regional Command, and the Criminal Investigation Body of the Indonesian National Police, continued to analyse surveillance footage along the suspected route taken by the perpetrators.
“We analysed a total of 86 CCTV points with approximately 2,610 video recordings lasting around 10,320 minutes,” said Iman.
Furthermore, Iman conveyed that all CCTV footage obtained came from various sources, ranging from electronic traffic cameras, local government property, to CCTV belonging to residents and office buildings.
“We are very grateful for the many CCTV cameras installed on the main routes as well as on alternative routes in the Jakarta area; this greatly helps with the exposure or investigation and prosecution process that we are conducting,” said Iman.
