Equally perilous

Equally perilous

From Koran Tempo

The Oct. 1 launching of the book titled Aku bangga menjadi
anak PKI (I am proud to be the child of the Indonesian Communist
Party), written by Ribka Tjiptaning Proletariati, has caused
public controversy because of the fear that a communist power
might reappear in this country. Most Indonesians agree that
communism is a dangerous ideology because it does not teach a
belief in God and its followers tend to act cruelly.

However, there are people who maintain that applying a
communist ideology would close the social gaps and solve the
economic crisis that resulted from the application of the
capitalist ideology.

Yet when they ask which ideologies are needed to be viewed
with suspicion or thrown out, their answer would be of course not
only the one that is against God but the one that sets aside
God's role in making regulations and affirming man's role in
regulating life.

Lamentably, the secular capitalist ideology is never suspected
or questioned. This ideology is still believed to be able to
bring this country out of crisis despite the fact that it has
brought about other prolonged crises.

Based on this failure, why don't we think about adopting other
ideologies from God which have for centuries proven to be able to
provide human beings with welfare?
