Ensuring Social Assistance is Targeted Correctly, Ministry of Social Affairs and BPS Update DTSEN Volume 2
The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) are updating the National Integrated Social and Economic Data (DTSEN) Volume 2 as the basis for distributing social assistance (bansos) in the second quarter of 2026. This update is being carried out to ensure that social assistance distribution is more targeted.
Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, or Gus Ipul, stated that periodic updates to DTSEN are a step to improve the accuracy of data for social assistance recipients.
“There are those who previously did not receive, now receive. And there are those who have been receiving but fall into inclusion error, so they no longer receive. So this data is dynamic,” said Gus Ipul in his statement on Tuesday (14/4/2026).
He conveyed this during a press conference at the Kemensos office on Monday (13/4).
Based on DTSEN Volume 2 for 2026, there are approximately 11,014 beneficiary families (KPM) that have been removed from the social assistance recipient list (inclusion error). This figure is equivalent to 0.06% of the total social assistance recipients in the first quarter of 2026.
Kemensos has also added new recipients from the data update results. From 77,014 families that previously did not have a decile, 27,176 families have now been classified through ground checks.
Of these, 25,665 families fall into deciles 1-4 and are potential social assistance recipients, while 1,511 families are in deciles 5-10 and fall into inclusion error data.
Gus Ipul emphasised that Kemensos has opened official channels for the public who wish to file objections or reports regarding their social assistance recipient status.
“For those who feel aggrieved, it is certainly allowed; the channels are already prepared. With the hope that they are accompanied by evidence so that we can assess for the continuation,” he said.
Furthermore, Gus Ipul affirmed that Kemensos is transparent with the data and opens participation from the public as widely as possible.
In addition, the DTSEN update has been integrated with population data from the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) to strengthen data validity.
Through this step, Kemensos ensures that the second quarter 2026 social assistance distribution is more accurate, transparent, and targeted.
