Deputy Minister for Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (WamenPAN-RB) Purwadi Arianto said the government continues to accelerate efforts to restore government functions and public services in disaster-affected areas.

He affirmed that the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform is focusing its intervention on reactivating government services through strengthened coordination across ministries, institutions, and regional governments; reformulating and adjusting service standards so that government services can return to optimal operation; and salvaging disaster-affected archives.

“Our visit to North Sumatra today is to ascertain how far the administration of government has progressed. It is also to carry out an inventory of what forms of infrastructure and facility support must be immediately fulfilled so that affected areas can carry out government functions,” Purwadi said in a statement on Monday (23/2/2026).

He made the remarks after meeting with North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution at the North Sumatra Governor’s Office in Medan on Monday (23/2).

Regarding public services, Purwadi explained that the current focus is on the rehabilitation and recovery of service facilities, through the provision of emergency facilities, rehabilitation of priority infrastructure, procurement of equipment, and restoration of supporting systems such as electricity, communications, and clean water so that basic services can be accessed again promptly.

As Coordinator for Governance within the Task Force for the Acceleration of Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction, the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform is also reorganising service functions. This is being done by establishing essential service priorities, adjusting standards and standard operating procedures, and temporarily restructuring service patterns, locations, and performance indicators to remain relevant under emergency conditions.

Purwadi said that post-disaster conditions could serve as momentum to accelerate the digitalisation of public services across all ministries, institutions, and regional governments. According to him, digital-based service systems enable the state to continue serving the public even in emergency situations.

“When disasters occur, public services also come to a halt because of damaged infrastructure. The recovery of physical infrastructure naturally requires a long time, and this is where digitalisation plays a role. The hope is that services can resume promptly even when offices are affected by disaster,” he said.

Echoing Purwadi’s sentiments, Bobby said that the digitalisation of public services plays a significant role in ensuring the acceleration of services during the emergency response period. Bobby confirmed that all service activities are currently operational across all regencies and cities, extending down to the sub-district level.

“Digital services are currently active in Asahan Regency and Tebingtinggi City. For other areas, we continue to make every effort, including deploying maximum personnel to assist the public,” he said.
