Energy Security Buffer Exceeds Standard, Bahlil: All Metrics Above 21 Days
KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has confirmed that national energy resilience exceeds the minimum safe threshold ahead of Lebaran 2026. Fuel oil (BBM), crude oil, and LPG are recorded at above 21 days. Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said the national energy resilience average is sufficient and even higher ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH. Indonesia’s energy storage capacity indeed ranges between 25 and 26 days. The government aims to add new storage capacity to meet international standards of three months. Plans call for the construction of new storage facilities starting this year in Sumatra, according to a feasibility study (FS). ‘Our main focus is to provide reassurance to the public. All Pertamina operational facilities will run 24 hours to ensure the availability of BBM, LPG, and Avtur remains safeguarded amid rising mobility,’ said Pertamina President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri. Pertamina estimates gasoline consumption during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr will rise by 12 percent, LPG by 4 percent, and Avtur by 2.8 percent. This includes opening 2,074 SPBU (gas stations) 24 hours a day along main corridors where vehicle density is high. In addition, 6,300 LPG agents and 200 reserve tanker units have been placed on standby to strengthen supply along the Sumatra–Java corridor, the Trans-Java route, and Kalimantan–Sulawesi connectivity.
