Energy Minister Inaugurates Jeffri Huwae as Director General of Law Enforcement at ESDM Ministry

Jakarta - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia has officially inaugurated Jeffri Huwae as Director General of Law Enforcement (Dirjen Gakkum) at the ESDM Ministry. Jeffri previously served as Expert Staff for Priority Investment Sector Development at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM.

The Directorate General of Law Enforcement was established under Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 169 of 2024 concerning the ESDM Ministry. The formation of this directorate general is one of the government's efforts to address the problem of unlicensed mining (PETI) or illegal mining across the country.

The Directorate General of Law Enforcement has a number of functions, including formulating policy in the areas of prevention, handling complaints, legal compliance supervision, conducting investigations, imposing administrative sanctions, and applying criminal law, as well as providing operational support for energy and mineral resources law enforcement.

Jeffri Huwae is no stranger to the legal world. Born in Masohi on 14 February 1970, he previously served as Head of the Fak-fak District Prosecutor's Office (2014-2017), followed by a posting as Head of the Bangka District Prosecutor's Office (2017-2019). From 2019 to 2020, he served as Assistant for Civil and State Administrative Affairs at the North Maluku Prosecutor's Office, and subsequently became Head of the Ternate District Prosecutor's Office (2020-2021).

His career continued as he took on the role of Head of the Legal Bureau at the Ministry of Investment/BKPM (2021-2024), before his most recent position as Expert Staff for Priority Investment Sector Development at the Ministry of Investment/BKPM.
