Energy and Land Transport Readiness Must Be a Priority During Lebaran Travel Period
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives’ Commission VI, Eko Hendro Purnomo, emphasised the importance of readiness in the energy sector and land transport during the Eid al-Fitr 2026 exodus and return period. He noted that the Mudik and Arus Balik periods always place significant pressure on the national transport and energy systems. Therefore operational readiness must be accompanied by strengthened risk management, network resilience, and integrated cross-sector coordination. The PAN Faction politician urged all related state-owned enterprises to ensure operational readiness that is safe, reliable and sustainable. “Strengthening operational coordination, readiness of energy distribution, reliability of electricity supply, and resilience of land and rail transport systems are the key factors in maintaining smooth movement during the Idul Fitri 2026 exodus and return,” he said in a statement on Saturday, 7 March. He also stressed that synergy among all parties, including the related state-owned enterprises and both regional and central governments, is key to maintaining service quality and mobility. Eko said that Commission VI has received an overview and explanations from several strategically important state-owned enterprises in preparing for the exodus and return, including mitigating risks or constraints that might arise. “PT Pertamina Patra Niaga said it is ready to maintain stability of supply and distribution of energy during the mudik and balik periods. Similarly, PT PLN (Persero) assured that the reliability of electricity supply is secure and under control,” he added. The same was stated by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) and PT Industri Kereta Api (INKA), which guaranteed the readiness of railway assets and infrastructure to face the surge in passengers ahead of Idul Fitri. “Perum DAMRI also stated its support for road transport services for the public, especially on routes experiencing surges in demand during the mudik and balik period,” he concluded.
