The Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri), who also serves as the Head of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) after the Sumatra disaster, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, distributed aid to victims of hydrometeorological disasters in Pidie Jaya Regency, Aceh. The aid distribution was carried out symbolically by Tito together with the Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf at the MTQ Building in Pidie Jaya Regency on Friday, 6 March 2026. The aid distributed includes survivor compensation of Rp 15 million for 56 deceased, compensation for severely injured victims of Rp 5 million for 23 people, and livelihood assistance (jadup) for 66,629 people. In addition, the government provided temporary housing content assistance (huntara) of Rp 3 million to 18,839 households (KK), and socio-economic stimulus assistance of Rp 5 million for the same number of households. The event was part of a ceremony titled “Disbursement of Heir Compensation for Hydrometeorological Disaster Victims and Socialisation of Additional TKD for 2026 for Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra Provinces,” held in a hybrid format. Tito also handed over aid from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), including 250 packs of worship equipment and heavy equipment assistance consisting of dump trucks, excavators, and backhoe loaders. In the occasion, Tito praised the progress of post-disaster recovery in Pidie Jaya Regency. He said residents are beginning to feel significant changes, such as improved road infrastructure, normal electricity supply, and the return to operation of several public facilities. “Moreover, recovery efforts continue through the deployment of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI)/Indonesian National Police (Polri), the National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB), and various other parties,” he said in a written statement received by Kompas.com. Following the disaster, Tito proposed emergency funding of Rp 2 billion for 52 affected districts/cities. The proposal was approved by President Prabowo with an increase to Rp 4 billion for each district. In addition, the government also channels aid through BNPB, the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos), and local government (pemda). Through these various supports, the government hopes the recovery process can be accelerated, especially through measures at the regional level.
