Employer and Domestic Worker Reach Peaceful Settlement in Abuse Case in North Jakarta
Police disclosed developments in the case involving employer HW (42) who allegedly assaulted domestic worker S (57) in Sunter Agung, Tanjung Priok District, North Jakarta. Police reported that the case was resolved through a family settlement.
“After the perpetrator became aware of their actions, they immediately apologised to the victim, and the victim forgave the perpetrator, reaching an amicable resolution shortly after the incident,” stated Iptu Maryati Jonggi, Head of Public Relations for North Jakarta Metro Police, on Tuesday (3 March 2026).
Maryati said the victim did not wish to file a report because the incident occurred three years ago. Police are still awaiting the victim’s medical examination results.
“We are awaiting medical examination results to determine if there are internal injuries. The case development is pending these results,” she said.
Police revealed the circumstances that prompted the employer to assault the domestic worker in Sunter Agung. The abuse began when the victim was cleaning the employer’s place of worship.
“At that time, the perpetrator was cleaning their place of worship at home, but the victim accidentally soiled the place of worship,” explained Iptu Maryati Jonggi.
She stated that the assault occurred in 2023. However, the victim continues to work for the same employer to this day.
“There was subsequently a miscommunication between the perpetrator and the victim,” she added.
Separately, Kompol Ni Luh Sri Arsini, Head of the Women and Child Protection Unit, revealed that the victim is at the Women and Child Protection Office with investigators for psychological recovery.
“Meanwhile, perpetrator HW is still undergoing examination and currently holds the status of witness,” said Sri.
