Electric Vehicles Remain Exempt from Odd-Even Scheme in Jakarta
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has ensured that electric vehicles remain exempt from the odd-even policy in the Capital City. Syafrin Liputo, Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, stated that this policy is part of efforts to encourage the use of environmentally friendly vehicles. “This policy is part of efforts to encourage the use of more environmentally friendly vehicles, in line with commitments to reduce emissions and strengthen a sustainable urban transportation system,” said Syafrin in an official statement on Tuesday (5/5/2026). For information, the exemption of electric vehicles from the odd-even rules has been regulated in the Governor of DKI Jakarta Regulation No. 88 of 2019 concerning amendments to Pergub No. 155 of 2018 regarding traffic restrictions with the odd-even system. In Article 3 paragraph (3) letter i, it is stated that battery-based electric motor vehicles are not included in these traffic restrictions. In addition, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government also continues to maintain various incentives for electric vehicles, such as exemptions from Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and Motor Vehicle Re-registration Tax (BBNKB). Thus, the direction of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s policy is considered consistent in supporting the development of environmentally friendly vehicles while accelerating the transition to clean energy in the transportation sector.
