Electric Vehicle Tax: GAC Aion Offers Single Price Scheme
Jakarta – Uncertainty surrounding the continuation of government tax incentives for electric vehicles has prompted several manufacturers to develop their own strategies to ensure consumers remain comfortable when purchasing vehicles.
One such approach is being undertaken by GAC Aion, which has adopted a single price scheme for its products marketed in Indonesia. Under this scheme, the vehicle price offered to consumers already includes value-added tax (VAT) of 12 per cent.
“Aion always uses a single price. So our price already includes 12 per cent VAT, so customers don’t get confused. Our prices don’t go up – the point is not to confuse customers about taxation,” said Andry when met in Central Jakarta recently.
He explained that this policy began implementation in January 2026.
“It has been ongoing since January. This is purely for our customers, so our customers don’t get confused and they feel more comfortable transacting with us,” Andry said.
He added that price certainty is one of the important factors for consumers when deciding to purchase vehicles.
“There needs to be certainty, both in price and quality. Not just quality, because if the price isn’t certain, people also feel uncomfortable,” he said.
Through this single price scheme, consumers are expected to gain price transparency and a simpler purchasing experience without needing to calculate additional taxes during the transaction.
