Jakarta (ANTARA) — Joint officers from the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) and the Transportation Agency conducted a tyre valve removal operation and crackdown on illegal street vendors in the Kembangan area of West Jakarta on Wednesday.

The activity forms part of routine enforcement of Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 8 of 2007 on Public Order, targeting a number of streets and areas prone to illegal street vending and unauthorised parking.

"This time, the Kembangan sub-district's 'Orderly Wednesday' operation targeted four road sections with a force of 40 personnel," said Kembangan Sub-district Head Joko Suparno when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Joko said the four targeted road areas were Jalan Pesanggrahan, Puri Indah, Kembangan Raya and Jalan Kembangan Selatan.

"As a result, three street vendors found placing goods on pavements were issued written warnings," Joko said.

Additionally, 15 four-wheeled vehicles and 22 two-wheeled vehicles found parked illegally were directed to designated parking areas.

Furthermore, eight motorcycles were subjected to tyre valve removal under the Tyre Valve Removal Operation (OCP) as the vehicles had been left parked illegally with no owners present.

"Beyond improving order and the aesthetic quality of the area, we hope 'Orderly Wednesday' will educate the public to comply with prevailing regulations, to refrain from parking illegally and occupying pavements," he said.
