Eid Holiday Schedule for Work From Anywhere Policy for Civil Servants: 16, 17, 25, 26, and 27 March 2026
JAKARTA — Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian announced that the government is implementing a work from anywhere (WFA) policy for state civil servants (ASN) during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period in 1447 H/2026 (March 2026).
The WFA policy applies to ASN in ministries, agencies, and regional governments to reduce congestion during the annual mass travel exodus and return journey during the Eid holiday.
“This must be regulated by each regional head and ministry or agency respectively. This means there will be an extended break from 16 to 27 March. I am not saying it is a holiday as such, but rather Working From Anywhere,” Tito stated during a press briefing on Monday, 9 March 2026.
Regional government preparedness is essential to ensure transport safety, anticipate potential crowding at tourist attractions, and maintain availability and price stability of essential goods ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
Specifically for inflation control, regional heads are required to coordinate with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), distributors, business associations, and market operators to ensure sufficient supplies and affordable prices.
The policy also addresses reports that some regional heads plan to undertake pilgrimages to Saudi Arabia approaching Eid al-Fitr, potentially leaving their regions during this critical period.
“When people are celebrating and on holiday, we should not be on holiday. On the contrary, we should be at our peak during this important period to reassure the public that they can carry out their holiday celebrations with manageable traffic flows and controlled prices, as well as well-managed tourist attractions,” Tito emphasised.
However, certain sectors are exempt from the WFA implementation before and after the Eid al-Fitr holiday in 2026/1447 H.
The WFA policy is excluded for sectors including healthcare, hotels, hospitality, shopping centres, and food and beverage manufacturing industries.
“WFA implementation can be exempted for certain sectors such as healthcare, hotels, hospitality, shopping centres, food and beverage manufacturing industries, other essential sectors, or those related to industry and factory continuity,” said Labour Minister Yassierli at Gambir Station, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 10 February 2026.
The implementation of WFA before and after the holiday is outlined in a circular letter (SE) to be distributed to all regional heads.
