Eid Exodus: 1,554 Potholes in East Jakarta Repaired Ahead of Idul Fitri Holiday Rush
Jakarta — The East Jakarta Roads and Bridges Sub-office has confirmed that it has repaired a number of potholes ahead of the Idul Fitri holiday travel rush for the 1447 Islamic calendar year.
Benhard Hutajulu, Head of the East Jakarta Roads and Bridges Sub-office, explained that the repairs were carried out to prevent potential accidents and provide comfort for holiday travellers.
“From 1 to 15 March 2026, a total of 1,554 pothole locations in East Jakarta were successfully repaired by the Yellow Squad,” Benhard Hutajulu said in his statement on Wednesday (18 March 2026).
He explained that road damage has largely occurred due to the high intensity of rainfall since January. This situation triggered water accumulation, which in turn impacted road surface deterioration.
“We directly conducted inspections and repaired damaged roads across 10 sub-districts. We hope that these repairs can provide a sense of security and comfort for road users, particularly those who will travel through East Jakarta during the holiday period,” he said.
Benhard detailed that overall, the length of road repaired reached 3,860.16 metres with an average width of 1.88 metres, and an area of approximately 7,256.30 square metres.
“In the repair process, various materials were used, including hot mix asphalt covering 6,358.96 square metres, cold mix 730.90 square metres, and scrap material 166.44 square metres,” he added.
