Eid al-Fitr: Indonesian Ambassador Urges WNI in Japan to Strengthen Friendship
On this Eid al-Fitr, let us utilise the spirit of unity, the values of brotherhood and maintaining ties, accompanied by the same energy to continue fostering friendship with Japan,” said Ambassador Nurmala after performing Eid prayers at the Tokyo Indonesian School (MIT) complex on Saturday.
According to a press release from the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo received by ANTARA in Jakarta on Sunday, there are currently around 250,000 Indonesians with various professions in several Japanese prefectures.
Of that number, approximately 8,000 Indonesians attended the Eid prayers held by the Indonesian Embassy together with the Indonesian Muslim Community Family (KMII) Japan and other Indonesian communities at MIT.
“Alhamdulillah, we can all enjoy the beauty of worshipping throughout a full month of fasting and maintaining ties to celebrate the victory of returning to our true nature. It is our collective responsibility to continue upholding the values of solidarity within society,” she stated.
The event was also attended by Deputy Ambassador Maria Renata Hutagalung, Coordinator of Social and Cultural Promotion Functions Muhammad Al Aula, and several Tokyo Embassy officials.
Chairman of KMII Japan Erwin Avianto appreciated the full support from the Tokyo Indonesian Embassy in organising Ramadan activities and Eid al-Fitr prayers for 1447 H.
Meanwhile, Ustadz Nasril Albab Mochamad, the imam and scribe for the Eid prayers, emphasised three characteristics of pious individuals during the celebration: bringing happiness to others, improving one’s quality in goodness, and spreading mercy to everyone.
After the Eid prayers, the Indonesians enjoyed traditional Indonesian dishes. The day before, on Friday (20/3), the Muhammadiyah Japan Branch Leadership held Eid prayers in Shibuya, Tokyo.
Al Aula emphasised that the Tokyo Indonesian Embassy will continue to support every activity of the Indonesian community in Japan, including the implementation of Eid prayers.
