The Eid al-Fitr 1447 H celebration at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Beijing, China, took place in a solemn and communal atmosphere, attended by hundreds of Indonesians and students in Beijing and surrounding areas.

Indonesian Ambassador to China, Djauhari Oratmangun, emphasised that celebrating Eid al-Fitr abroad holds greater significance than mere religious ceremony. According to him, the moment serves as a means to strengthen ties of friendship among citizens and nurture the spirit of nationalism.

“This occasion provides a forum to enhance togetherness and build solidarity among fellow compatriots, even though we are far from the homeland. Despite the cold weather in early spring, we can feel the warmth from our togetherness,” stated Djauhari Oratmangun.

He stressed that such activities reflect direct interaction between government representatives and Indonesians abroad. The KBRI, he continued, continues to strive to be present among the community to listen to aspirations and provide services and protection for Indonesian citizens (WNI).

In addition to being a venue for reconnecting, the celebration also spotlighted the growing spirit of social concern during the month of Ramadan. Ambassador Djauhari appreciated the participation of Indonesians in Beijing in collecting zakat fitrah and sedekah, coordinated with several community organisations such as the Beijing Study Circle, PCI NU China, and PCI Muhammadiyah. The aid will be distributed to disaster-affected communities in Aceh.

“This is tangible proof that the spirit of mutual cooperation and social concern among Indonesians remains intact wherever they are,” he affirmed.

On that occasion, the Indonesian Ambassador also expressed concern over various natural disasters that have struck Indonesia in recent times, from floods in several regions, landslides in Bandung, earthquakes in East Java, to extreme weather in South Sumatra. He invited the community to join in praying for the victims to be granted strength and resilience.

In closing his remarks, Ambassador Djauhari Oratmangun called on the entire Indonesian diaspora to make Eid al-Fitr a moment to return to one’s innate nature and strengthen positive contributions to the nation and state.

EID PRAYER IMPLEMENTATION

The Eid al-Fitr celebration at KBRI Beijing began with Eid prayer led by Imam Faruq Bil Adly, an undergraduate student at the Central University of Finance and Economics, and a sermon delivered by Dienny Redha Rahmani, a PhD student in Environmental Science and Engineering at the Beijing University of Chemical Technology.

In her sermon, the speaker emphasised the importance of mutual understanding among diverse communities. “Allah created humans of various nations and tribes, but these differences should encourage us to respect and understand one another. With mutual respect, ukhuwah wathaniyah or national brotherhood, and insaniyah or human brotherhood, will be realised,” said Dienny.

The Eid al-Fitr celebration at KBRI Beijing is not only a religious event but also reflects the strong solidarity and togetherness of Indonesians abroad in upholding values of unity and social concern.

During this year’s Eid reconnecting moment, KBRI Beijing also introduced new officials to the embassy, namely the Economic Function Coordinator, Education Attaché, and Trade Attaché. The Eid al-Fitr celebration at KBRI Beijing is the result of cooperation with various institutions and community groups in Beijing, including the Representative Office of Bank Indonesia in Beijing, At-Taqwa Religious Study Council, Beijing Study Circle, Indonesian Muslim Community Network China, PCI Muhammadiyah, and PCI NU Beijing.
