The National Police Headquarters has stated that the volume of public movement during the Eid 2026 holiday period is predicted to decline compared to the 2025 period.

This was conveyed by Deputy Police Chief General Dedi Prasetyo following a cross-sectoral coordination meeting for Operation Ketupat 2026 at the Police Science College in South Jakarta on Monday, 2 March.

Dedi stated that based on a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation, the volume of public movement this year is estimated to reach 143.9 million people.

“This figure represents a decrease compared to 2025 of 2.57 million people, or 1.75 per cent. In other words, compared to last year 2025, based on the Ministry of Transportation survey, there were 146.4 million people,” he said.

Nevertheless, he assured that all ranks of the police force have been prepared to ensure security and smooth holiday travel.

“However, we still need to anticipate any increase in actual movement figures,” he concluded.

Earlier, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the peak period of Eid 2026 homebound travel is predicted to occur during two periods in mid-March.

This was conveyed by the Police Chief during a cross-sectoral coordination meeting for Operation Ketupat 2026 at the Police Science College in South Jakarta on Monday, 2 March.

He noted that the prediction was obtained by the Traffic Directorate from a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation and by comparing the actual number of holiday travellers in 2025.

“The prediction for the peak homebound travel (first period) is likely to occur between 14 and 15 March,” he said.

Following the first return travel period, he stated that the government will also implement a Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy on 16 and 17 March. This means a second peak homebound travel period is expected on 18 and 19 March.
