Edwin elected REI chairman

JAKARTA (JP): The national conference of the Indonesian Developers Association (REI) has elected Edwin Kawilarang as the organization's chairman for the period of 1995-1998, replacing Enggartiasto Lukita.

During the conference, which was held from Monday to Thursday, the organization's members also elected Agusman Effendi as REI secretary-general to replace Edwin Kawilarang.

REI's members also agreed to change the tenure of the organization's leadership from three years to five years, effective from 1998.

State Minister of Public Housing Akbar Tandjung expressed the hope that Edwin and Agusman will continue promoting the program for building low-cost houses and strengthening the partnership between developers and the government.

Edwin said that he will support the program to construct low- cost houses and will urge members to comply with the government's 1:3:6 housing policy, which requires developers to construct six small houses and three medium-sized houses for every luxury house they build. (13)
