A total of 107 schools under the Central Lombok Regency Government in West Nusa Tenggara are yet to have school principals. The Central Lombok Education and Culture Department attributes this situation to a shortage of prospective principal candidates.

“The total is around 107 schools (without principals),” said the Head of the Central Lombok Education and Culture Department, Lalu Idham Khalid, to detikBali on Tuesday (31/3/2026).

Idham explained that the principal position can be assigned to civil servant teachers at grade 3C who have undergone training for prospective school principal candidates (BCKS). This is based on the Regulation of the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Number 7 of 2025.

For the time being, Idham stated that the only solution available is to fill the principal positions with an acting task scheme (Plt). “Using a Plt letter from the Regent’s Secretary to serve as the school principal,” he added.

On the other hand, the Central Lombok Regency Government plans to hold a BCKS selection and collaborate with an official institution using the 2026 Regional Budget allocation. According to Idham, this plan has been disseminated to all prospective principals so they can prepare to register themselves.

“We are opening registrations with the regional budget. We have also informed those who can nominate themselves,” he concluded.
