Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has stated that mastery and utilisation of Interactive Flat Panels (IFP) are key to improving the quality of learning in special needs schools (SLB).

Vice Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Atip Latipulhayat said in a written statement on Tuesday that teacher competence, supported by the use and mastery of technology, is the main key to improving the quality of learning in SLB.

He noted that the task carried out by SLB teachers is extraordinary, as it demands greater capacity, patience, and commitment compared to other professions.

“SLB teachers have dedicated themselves to serving our brothers and sisters with special needs. Of course, a spirit of service and spiritual values are important strengths in carrying out this noble task,” said Vice Minister Atip.

Therefore, the use of technology in education must be carried out appropriately to improve the quality of the teaching and learning process.

“Teachers must have the knowledge, mastery, and skills to utilise technology optimally. Teachers must be the main actors in the success of the Digitalisation of Learning programme, so that this IFP can have a significant impact on the quality of education,” he said.

Vice Minister Atip also invited all participants to continue strengthening their competencies, optimising the use of technology, and bringing innovation to the teaching process.

On the same occasion, Director General of Secondary Education and Special Education at Kemendikdasmen, Tatang Muttaqin, emphasised that digital transformation in schools is not solely determined by the availability of technological devices, but also by the ability of teachers to utilise them to support the learning process.

Through the implementation of technical guidance, all participating teachers will develop follow-up plans, including the development of digital teaching materials, production of learning videos, creation of educational games, and dissemination of training results to colleagues at their respective schools.

“We hope that SLB teachers can become the driving force of digital transformation in schools, presenting learning that is increasingly innovative, enjoyable, inclusive, and accommodates the learning needs of every student with special needs,” said Tatang.
