Education is not yet considered investment

Education is not yet considered investment

All citizens have the right to a proper education, which, in a
dismal economy such as ours, is something of a luxury. Not all
children of school age can afford to go to school, especially
good schools, even if they are of high intelligence.

At present, access to good-quality tuition is not only
strictly controlled by state universities but also privately run
kindergartens, and junior and senior high schools. To register
their children for an approved kindergarten, parents have to pay
millions of rupiah, not to mention good-quality universities.

With that much money at stake, only children of well-off
families have the opportunity to receive a good education. So
what about those from low-income families?

The quality of education is determined by a number of factors,
including methodology, structure and infrastructure, as well as
the quality of the teachers. We all acknowledge that funding has
become the main constraint in education today and this leads to
inferior human resources.

In many developed countries education is considered an
investment, so that students, including university students, are
have access free of charge to tuition.
