East Nusa Tenggara Inflation at 0.67 Per Cent, Food Prices Drive Increase
Food prices have once again pressured inflation in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) recorded February 2026 inflation in NTT at 0.67 per cent, with the food, beverage and tobacco group as the principal contributor to price increases.
“The food, beverage and tobacco group is the main contributor to the 0.67 per cent price increase,” said the head of BPS NTT, Matamira B Kale, to media representatives on Monday (2 March 2026).
He noted that the figure demonstrates an increase in the prices of goods and services consumed by the public compared with the previous month. Previously, in January 2026, NTT inflation was recorded at 1.1 per cent.
“When compared with the national figure, NTT inflation remains relatively under control,” he added.
Price pressures occurred across all consumer price index (CPI) areas in NTT. Kupang City recorded the highest inflation at 0.71 per cent, whilst the lowest was in South Central Timor Regency (TTS) at 0.03 per cent.
“Kupang City is recorded as the area with the highest inflation at 0.71 per cent, whilst South Central Timor Regency (TTS) experienced the lowest inflation at 0.03 per cent,” he said.
This variation, according to Matamira, demonstrates the differing price pressures in each region, influenced by distribution factors, supply availability and local market conditions.
