East Kalimantan Tourism Office Holds UMKM Kreatif Fair 2026 to Expand Local Product Markets
The East Kalimantan Provincial Tourism Office is holding the UMKM Weekend Kreatif Fair 2026 at the Temindung Creative Hub in Samarinda to encourage the growth of the creative economy ecosystem while expanding the marketing network for the region’s superior local products. The three-day event, running from 26 to 28 June 2026, is being attended by dozens of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and players from the creative economy sector, said Head of the East Kalimantan Provincial Tourism Office, Ririn Sari Dewi, in Samarinda on Saturday. According to Ririn, this activity serves as an effective promotional platform for business actors, as well as a strategic step in strengthening the growth of the creative economy ecosystem in East Kalimantan. Under the theme ‘Smart Shopping, Exciting Entertainment, Strong MSMEs, Great Economy’, the East Kalimantan Tourism Office is focusing on several main targets. ‘The purpose of this activity is to encourage the development of local products, optimise public facilities, drive the economy, and build a love for local products,’ Ririn stressed. Deputy Governor of East Kalimantan, Seno Aji, expressed appreciation for this initiative. According to him, amidst government budget efficiency measures, the East Kalimantan Tourism Office remains able to move nimbly in creating real collaborative spaces for business actors. Seno Aji emphasised the importance of shifting East Kalimantan’s economic engine from the non-renewable natural resources sector to the creative sector. ‘Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency, the creative economy is now one of the backbones of East Kalimantan’s economy. So, never be ashamed to be involved in this industry. MSMEs and the creative economy are the spearheads of our economic future,’ Seno Aji asserted. Seno added that the success of this event could not be separated from cross-sector synergy, including support from various MSME communities, the Indonesian Catering Services Association, the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association, and the banking sector. As a form of concrete support, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government has integrated MSME strengthening into the regional development vision and mission through the Integrated Entrepreneurship Programme (Jospol). This programme encompasses four main pillars: intensive business training, business equipment assistance, facilitation of Intellectual Property Rights, and access to strategic partnerships. ‘Through the Jospol Programme, we aim for East Kalimantan’s MSMEs to level up and penetrate national and international markets,’ the Deputy Governor added. He also expressed hope that this event would inspire the younger generation to shift their focus from gadgets to productive creative activities. Beyond the product exhibition, the festival also functions as a public service and recreation centre.
