East Java Provincial Government Distributes Rp5 Billion in Social Assistance in Mojokerto
East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa expressed optimism that the distribution of social assistance (bansos) valued at Rp5.008 billion in Mojokerto Regency would accelerate poverty alleviation and reduce social inequality based on unified data.
“This social assistance distribution is part of the East Java Provincial Government’s commitment to accelerating poverty alleviation and reducing inequality through cross-sectoral and spatial approaches based on unified data,” Khofifah stated in Surabaya on Friday.
She emphasised that adaptive social protection must proceed alongside community empowerment and strengthening village independence. “We hope this assistance reaches the right targets and provides real benefits, truly reaching those entitled and used according to needs,” she said.
Khofifah also urged that social assistance be utilised wisely to improve family welfare, strengthen economic independence, and foster entrepreneurial spirit.
The assistance breakdown includes the Hopeful Family Programme (PKH) Plus of Rp2.766 billion for 1,383 families, Disability Social Assistance (ASPD) of Rp349.2 million for 97 individuals, Indonesia Smart Card Programme for Poverty and Stunting Mitigation (KIP PPKS) Jawara of Rp36 million for 12 recipients, and burial assistance for elderly social institutions of Rp45.75 million for 10 people.
Additionally, Educational Operational Assistance (BOP) and support for social pillars (PKH Plus, Disability Facilitators, Community Social Workers, Disaster Response Volunteers) of Rp282 million for 137 people. Productive zakat from East Java state-owned enterprises of Rp25 million was also distributed to 50 recipients as economic stimulus for community businesses.
Beyond regular social assistance, the East Java Provincial Government distributed village empowerment financial assistance through various regional agencies. Through the Community Development Office, Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDesa) assistance of Rp200 million and Empowered Villages assistance of Rp200 million were each distributed to two villages, along with the East Java Puspa Programme of Rp349.45 million for two villages.
Additional funding from the Public Works Office included Rp250 million, the Culture and Tourism Office Rp200 million, and the Agriculture Office Rp350 million. “This is part of building strong social and economic foundations. Economic growth must go hand-in-hand with improved welfare for disadvantaged communities so they become gradually independent,” Khofifah stated.
In another region, the Highland Papua Provincial Government (Papeg) presented religious social assistance of Rp400 million to the Indonesian Christian Church (GKI) Lachai Hom-Hom in Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency.
The assistance was presented by Governor John Tabo to the construction committee for the GKI Lachai Hom-Hom pastor’s residence. “This expresses gratitude to the evangelists who have brought God’s word and the light of salvation to all tribes in Highland Papua,” said John Tabo in Wamena on Friday.
He explained that God always prepares everything beautifully in its time, including the opening of the pastor’s building and this Rp400 million assistance. His administration, together with Deputy Governor Ones Pahabol, established three pillars of development: church, government, and custom.
