Surabaya — The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of East Java recorded that East Java’s export value in January 2026 increased by 4.73 per cent compared to the same period in 2025, rising from $1.96 billion to $2.05 billion.

“The increase was driven by improved performance in non-oil and gas exports, which grew 5.24 per cent from $1.94 billion to $2.046 billion,” said Senior Statistician at BPS East Java Ike Rahayu Sri in Surabaya on Monday.

Oil and gas exports experienced a sharp decline of 75.83 per cent, falling from $12.24 million to $2.96 million, due to a 100 per cent decrease in crude oil exports.

East Java’s export value in January 2026 compared to December 2025 declined 25.9 per cent, falling from $2.77 billion to $2.05 billion as both non-oil and gas exports and oil and gas exports declined by 24.43 per cent and 94.88 per cent respectively.

Fish, crustacean, and mollusc commodities (HS 03) increased 24.93 per cent to $116.06 million, tobacco and cigarette commodities (HS 24) increased 23.96 per cent to $93.34 million, and chemical products (HS 38) increased 10.73 per cent to $91.82 million.
