East Jakarta prepares SOP and special instructions for managing office waste
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The East Jakarta City Government is beginning to tighten waste management in office environments through the preparation of a standard operating procedure (SOP) and plans to issue special instructions for Civil Servants (ASN).
“Later, the SOP distribution for waste processing from rooms that are already sorted, to the officers who collect the waste, up to the Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST), will truly be in a sorted condition,” said East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin in Jakarta on Wednesday.
This step is a serious effort to reduce waste volume at the source, particularly in the East Jakarta Mayor’s Office.
According to Munjirin, strengthening the waste management system will not stop at socialisation but will also be formalised in binding technical regulations for all employees in the office environment.
The SOP will detail the waste management flow from the room level to the Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST).
With this SOP, all waste produced in work rooms must be in a sorted condition between organic and inorganic before being collected by officers.
This is expected to facilitate the subsequent processing by the Environmental Agency (LH).
In addition to the SOP, the East Jakarta City Government will also issue special instructions regulating ASN behaviour in reducing waste.
One point to be implemented is the obligation to use personal drinking containers or tumblers to reduce single-use plastic waste in the office environment.
Not only that, every ASN is also asked to take responsibility for the waste they produce, including during meetings.
“After the meeting ends, employees are required to take their respective waste to the rubbish bins that have been separated by type,” said Munjirin.
In addition, Munjirin considers this step important for building discipline and a new culture in waste management in the government work environment.
With the involvement of all employees, the City Government hopes that waste reduction can be done significantly at the source.
To support the implementation of this policy, the East Jakarta City Government is also consolidating readiness of facilities and infrastructure.
Within the next week, all needs such as sorted rubbish bins will be ensured to be available in every room.
The City Government is also partnering with the East Jakarta Baznas Bazis to help provide supporting facilities.
This collaboration is expected to accelerate the comprehensive implementation of the waste sorting system in the office environment.
“I request this week for consolidation of facility preparations, then after that we implement it,” said Munjirin.
Through the implementation of this SOP and special instructions, the East Jakarta City Government hopes to create a more orderly, measurable, and sustainable waste management system, while serving as an example for other agencies and the wider community.
The East Jakarta City Government has also held a socialisation attended by 100 participants from ASN and Individual Service Providers (PJLP), as well as attended by the Assistant for Economy and Development of East Jakarta, Fauzi, and the Head of the East Jakarta Environmental Agency, Julius Monangta, on Tuesday (14/4) yesterday.
