East Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture Sub-District Office installs SKKH stickers at sacrificial animal sales locations
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The East Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture Sub-District Office (Sudin KPKP Jaktim) has installed stickers and Animal Health Certificates (SKKH) at several sacrificial animal sales locations that have been declared healthy and fit for sale ahead of Eid al-Adha 1445 Hijriah. “These stickers indicate that the sacrificial animals at that location have been examined, are in healthy condition, and are safe, so the public can purchase them,” said the Head of the KPKP Implementation Unit for Duren Sawit Sub-District, Nur Hikmah, at the Afau Breeder cattle sales location on Jalan Swadaya VII, RT 08/01, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, on Thursday. The installation of the stickers was carried out after health examinations of the sacrificial animals. The SKKH stickers serve as a marker that the animals at that location have been inspected by officials and confirmed to be in healthy condition. According to Nur Hikmah, the presence of these stickers is expected to make it easier for the public to select sacrificial animals with guaranteed health quality. She also urged residents to purchase sacrificial animals only from sales locations that have been fitted with official health inspection stickers from the East Jakarta Sudin KPKP. “I urge the public to buy sacrificial animals from locations that have been fitted with health inspection stickers from the East Jakarta Sudin KPKP so that the quality and health of the animals are more assured,” said Nur Hikmah. In addition to inspections, officials also provided vitamins to sacrificial animals that were fatigued from long journeys from their places of origin. According to her, the inspections and health sticker installations provide confidence to buyers regarding the quality of the sacrificial cattle being sold. “Every year, we sell sacrificial cattle here. Even on ordinary days, we continue selling because this is our permanent barn,” said Ahmad. Previously, the East Jakarta City Government had equipped sacrificial committees with socialisation on the handling and slaughtering of sacrificial animals ahead of this year’s Eid al-Adha. “This socialisation on the handling and slaughtering of sacrificial animals is to ensure that the worship is carried out in accordance with Islamic sharia while also meeting health standards,” said Assistant for Economy, Development and Environment of the East Jakarta Administrative City, Fauzi, at the East Jakarta Mayor’s Office on Wednesday (6/5). Fauzi highlighted the importance of the sacrificial committees’ responsibility in safeguarding public trust. He also reminded that the entire slaughtering process must be carried out in accordance with Islamic sharia provisions so that the sacrificial worship is not only valid religiously but also accountable. In addition to the halal aspect, the quality of the meat or the thayyib principle is also a primary concern. Fauzi hopes that the sacrificial committees can understand good animal husbandry practices, from feeding to technical preparations before slaughtering.
