Jakarta (ANTARA) — The South Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has reported that a number of residents from Cilandak Timur (Pasar Minggu) and Bintaro (Pesanggrahan) have been evacuated due to flooding.

"On Jalan NIS, 19 evacuees from RT 03 are sheltering at Musholla Almakmuriah, and three people from RT 09, RW 03 are at Pendopo Kenanga," said South Jakarta BPBD task force chief Sukendar when contacted in Jakarta on Friday.

According to him, as of 09.00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB), floodwaters on Jalan NIS had reached a depth of 60 centimetres.

The flooding was caused by heavy upstream rainfall, which caused the Krukut River to overflow and inundate Jalan NIS.

Meanwhile, water levels on Jalan Madrasah and Jalan Pembangunan Bawah in RT 01, 06, 07/RW 012, Bintaro subdistrict, Pesanggrahan district, reached 50 centimetres as of 09.00 WIB.

"Evacuees from RT 01 comprise 60 households, RT 06 comprise 30 households, and RT 07 comprise 20 households, sheltering at Al Umariyah Mosque, Al-Baroah Prayer Hall, and Villa Anggrek," said Sukendar.

The DKI Jakarta BPBD recorded a total of 61 community units (RT) and six roads inundated by flooding as of 07.00 WIB.

The DKI Jakarta BPBD deployed personnel to monitor flooding conditions across all affected areas and coordinated with the Water Resources Agency, the Highways Agency, and the Fire and Rescue Service to pump out floodwaters and ensure drainage channels were functioning properly.

Together with local subdistrict and village heads, all agencies also prepared basic necessities for flood survivors. Floodwaters are targeted to recede as quickly as possible.

The DKI Jakarta BPBD urged the public to remain cautious and vigilant against potential flooding. In an emergency, residents should immediately contact telephone number 112. The service is free of charge and operates 24 hours without interruption.
