EASA Extends Flight Risk Warning in Middle East
Moscow (ANTARA) - The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has extended the risk warning for civil aviation in the Middle East conflict zone until 27 March. In its statement on Wednesday (18/3), EASA said the Conflict Zone Information Bulletin (CZIB) has been revised to “reflect the observed conflict dynamics” based on the assessment of the Integrated European Union Aviation Security Risk Assessment Group (IRAG). “The revision includes differences in the level and geographical spread of military activity. The CZIB is valid until 27 March,” the statement said. On 28 February, the US and Israel launched attacks on several targets in Iran, including in Tehran, causing damage and killing civilians. Iran retaliated by attacking Israeli territory and US military facilities across the Middle East. The US and Israel initially claimed the “preliminary strikes” were necessary to counter threats from Iran’s nuclear programme, but later stated that the objective was to change the ruling regime in Iran.
