There was no limit to the colors and noises emanating from
Bali where people from around the globe had gathered for the
United Nations fourth and final preparatory committee (PrepCom)
meeting for the upcoming World Summit on Sustainable Development
in Johannesburg, South Africa. However, the meeting ended
deadlock on Friday and the proposed "Bali Commitment" was not
realized. The contentious issues still on debate will be brought
to the World Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, in August.

shirts that reads "What are we going to do about the United
States?" to protest the country's uncompromising stance in favor
of multinational corporations. Delegates convened to discuss the
contentious issues of the plan of implementation for sustainable
development prior to the plenary meeting. Indonesian traditional
musical instruments accompany the joint rally by NGOs and civil
society, raising issues such as a write-off of third-world
countries' debts, which they said was the root of poverty and
environmental degradation in the countries. Two dancers perform
the Legong, a traditional Balinese dance, to welcome the
participants of the Indonesian People's Forum which was run
parallel with the PrepCom meeting. Traditional arts like the
