There was no limit to the colors and noises emanating from
\nBali where people from around the globe had gathered for the
\nUnited Nations fourth and final preparatory committee (PrepCom)
\nmeeting for the upcoming World Summit on Sustainable Development
\nin Johannesburg, South Africa. However, the meeting ended
\ndeadlock on Friday and the proposed \"Bali Commitment\" was not
\nrealized. The contentious issues still on debate will be brought
\nto the World Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, in August.
\n(Clockwise from photo above) Greenpeace activists sporting T-
\nshirts that reads \"What are we going to do about the United
\nStates?\" to protest the country's uncompromising stance in favor
\nof multinational corporations. Delegates convened to discuss the
\ncontentious issues of the plan of implementation for sustainable
\ndevelopment prior to the plenary meeting. Indonesian traditional
\nmusical instruments accompany the joint rally by NGOs and civil
\nsociety, raising issues such as a write-off of third-world
\ncountries' debts, which they said was the root of poverty and
\nenvironmental degradation in the countries. Two dancers perform
\nthe Legong, a traditional Balinese dance, to welcome the
\nparticipants of the Indonesian People's Forum which was run
\nparallel with the PrepCom meeting. Traditional arts like the
