Early Warning System and 112 emergency call centre prepared for Eid mitigation
Jakarta — Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Technology is preparing an Early Warning System (EWS) and 112 emergency call centre to support disaster mitigation efforts during the 2026 Eid holiday period.
“We are preparing EWS support or disaster information delivery through SMS broadcasts and national digital television broadcasts,” said Wayan Toni Supriyanto, Director General of Digital Infrastructure at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Technology, during the deployment of a telecommunications service monitoring task force for the 2026 Eid period in Jakarta on Friday.
The EWS will deliver notifications to residents through digital television if a disaster occurs in their residential area.
Residents are advised to configure their digital television services according to their residential postcode so that the EWS can deliver notifications accurately.
The 112 emergency call centre service is already available in DKI Jakarta Province and 190 regencies/cities across Indonesia.
Residents can contact the 112 emergency centre, which is integrated with emergency police, fire, and ambulance services, at no cost.
“People can call if there are issues. They just need to call 112 as the emergency centre for any incident in their respective city,” said Wayan.
“We are prioritising ensuring that the most urgent matters are addressed first for telecommunications networks or signals, which is electricity,” he said.
“We have already communicated with colleagues from PLN and are attempting to prepare a backup plan in case of a disaster, but hopefully this will not happen,” he added.
