Early Nutrition Education Key to Building a Productive Generation
Fulfilling children’s nutrition is a critical factor in supporting the quality of future human resources. Beyond ensuring adequate food availability, education on healthy eating patterns and the importance of balanced nutritional intake is necessary so that children can build healthy living habits from an early age. Various studies show that nutritional understanding provided during school years helps children recognise better food choices whilst supporting optimal growth and development.
To mark World Cheese Day, observed every 4 June, PT Mulia Boga Raya Tbk (MBR), producer of Prochiz cheese and a subsidiary of PT Garudafood Putra Putri Jaya Tbk, expanded its nutrition education programme to more than 1,000 primary school students and teachers in Depok, Bandung, and Surabaya. The activity is part of the company’s efforts to improve understanding of the importance of nutritious food consumption whilst supporting the formation of a healthier and more productive young generation.
MBR President Director Dede Patmawidjaja said food education needs to be continuously expanded so that children have sufficient knowledge about the importance of nutrition in supporting their activities and growth. "Through the momentum of World Chiz Day 2026, we want to ensure Indonesian children gain access to quality food education, so they grow into a healthy, intelligent, and productive generation," Dede said during the activity at SD Negeri 01 Sawangan, Depok.
According to Nielsen 2024 data, the majority of Indonesians still consume cheese only one to two times per week. This indicates a continued need to improve literacy regarding various nutritious food sources that support daily nutritional requirements. Cheese is a food product containing various essential nutrients, such as calcium, vitamin D, protein, and fats required for children’s growth processes.
Through this year’s World Chiz Day celebration, Prochiz presented various educational activities packaged interactively and enjoyably, including a storytelling session introducing the benefits of nutritious food to primary school students. The company also distributed 1,000 nutritious breakfast portions to participants in each city as part of education on the importance of consuming milk and its derivatives in a balanced diet.
The activity was also used to introduce the concept of healthy snacking or the habit of choosing healthier, nutritious snacks. "We believe healthy eating habits are formed from an early age. Through these educational activities, we hope children increasingly understand the importance of nutrition whilst realising that nutritious food choices can come in practical, affordable, and easy-to-enjoy forms every day," Dede said.
This year, the education programme was expanded to three cities as part of efforts to strengthen food literacy more broadly and sustainably. As a symbol of collaboration and the spirit of building a healthier future generation, the activity also featured the construction of the Prochiz Tower assembled together by students, the school principal, invited guests, and company management.
The Principal of SD Negeri 01 Sawangan, Depok, Purjiyo, welcomed the programme, assessing that such educational activities provide a different learning experience for students. "We are grateful our students had the opportunity to participate in this activity. This programme became a new and memorable experience for the children, especially for us as an inclusion reference school. We hope educational activities like this can continue to provide benefits and positive experiences for all students," he said.
In addition to face-to-face school activities, the World Chiz Day 2026 commemorations were also extended through various digital activities so the message on the importance of consuming nutritious food could reach a wider public. Through this approach, the company hopes education on healthy eating patterns is not only received by students but can also become part of family habits and the school environment in supporting optimal child growth and development.
