Early Financial Education Deemed Essential to Face the Digital Economy
JAKARTA - PT Kredit Utama Fintech Indonesia (RupiahCepat) has introduced a reading corner facility at SD Muhammadiyah Worawari in Kulon Progo Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. This is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme, GROW with RupiahCepat. The programme is designed to support the enhancement of societal literacy from an early age. This step is also driven by the still low reading abilities among Indonesian students. Indonesia’s student reading proficiency score is recorded at 359, which remains below the average for members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). This condition indicates that increasing reading interest and the ability to comprehend information remains a crucial need in preparing a more adaptive and critical younger generation. Through this programme, RupiahCepat provides reading corner assistance in the form of shelves and reading books to support a reading culture in the school environment. Director of PT Kredit Utama Fintech Indonesia, Anna Maria Chosani, stated that reading literacy is an important foundation in shaping thinking abilities and understanding information. “We believe that building reading habits from an early age is an important step in forming a generation that is more critical and capable of understanding various information well. Through this reading corner, we hope students have broader access to beneficial reading materials,” Anna said in a written statement on Monday (11/5/2026). In addition to providing literacy facilities, RupiahCepat also delivers interactive education on simple financial management for children. This programme is part of the company’s efforts to introduce basic financial management understanding from an early age through a more contextual and easily understandable approach. In addition to targeting primary school students, RupiahCepat also provides financial education for university students through the “Pindar Mengajar: Cerdas Mengelola, Bijak Bertransaksi” programme. The event was organised by the Indonesian Peer-to-Peer Financing Fintech Association (AFPI) together with the academic community at Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Yogyakarta and attended by hundreds of students.
