REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — A socialisation event on the need for early detection of preeclampsia was held at the Ministry of Health in Jakarta on Tuesday (21/4/2026). Detection of this pregnancy disorder is considered to increase the risk of premature birth and low birth weight. Both are seen as risk factors for stunting in children.

At this event, Bakti BCA distributed aid in the form of one package of early preeclampsia detection equipment to Cisompet Health Centre in Garut, West Java. The equipment consists of an ultrasound device, patient monitor, Android tablet, and the Cexup application, which is used by health workers to detect risks more quickly and accurately.

In addition, Bakti BCA invited 31 pregnant women from the operational area of the Bakti BCA Clinic, namely Mangga Dua Bakti Medika Clinic. They had the opportunity to directly receive socialisation and undergo early preeclampsia detection checks so that pregnancy risks can be identified earlier.

Not only that, Bakti BCA together with Bakti Medika Clinic also provided free Mini Medical Check-Up (MCU) services for participants, as part of efforts to promote broader early disease detection.

BCA Director Antonius Widodo Mulyono stated that this activity is expected to detect earlier the risks faced by pregnant women, one of which is preeclampsia. This aligns with the government’s efforts to reduce the Maternal Mortality Rate (AKI), which is still recorded as high compared to other Southeast Asian countries.

Widodo mentioned the need for active collaboration from various parties to achieve that target. In this regard, Widodo emphasised that BCA will always support the sustainability of maternal and child life in the long term.

“Today we are providing aid in the form of a set of early preeclampsia detection equipment; previously, we have also been active in supporting stunting prevention in recent years. Hopefully, with what we do, we can reduce the Maternal Mortality Rate in Indonesia,” said Widodo.

BCA EVP Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility Hera F. Haryn added that this activity with the Ministry of Health is their contribution to supporting stunting prevention. Previously, BCA had first implemented the PASTI (Partner for Accelerating Stunting Reduction in Indonesia) programme and the ‘Ayo Cegah Stunting’ programme.

Hera explained that they, together with philanthropic organisations and other private companies, also support the Ministry of Population and Family Planning through the PASTI programme to accelerate the reduction of stunting rates in Indonesia. This joint programme runs for four years, from 2023 to 2026, with a total donation of US$1 million. Through several of these programmes, 6,070 children under two years old (toddlers) have received nutritional interventions during the 2023-2025 period.

“Stunting prevention needs to start from upstream, starting from adolescents and family readiness, maternal health during pregnancy, to child growth and development. We hope that BCA’s initiatives can strengthen prevention efforts from early pregnancy while improving the readiness of health facilities in providing faster and more accurate responses,” she said.
