E. Timor expels 35 foreigners in 1995

DILI, East Timor: Thirty-five foreigners considered as posing potential threats to security and order have been expelled from East Timor so far this year.

The head of East Timor's Immigration office, J. Sri Triswoyo, told Antara on Thursday that the deportations had all been carried out in accordance with legal procedures.

"Foreigners in Indonesia who are suspected of acts that could endanger national security can be deported under the immigration law," Triswoyo said.

Four foreigners visiting Indonesia on tourist visas were deported from East Timor in January after they were caught filming anti-integration demonstrations. The other 31 deportees were ejected in November after it was discovered that they were planning a series of political activities. (mds)
