During Ramadhan, KPK conducts seventh sting operation of 2026 in Central Java
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) conducted its seventh sting operation of 2026 in Central Java during Ramadhan 1447 Hijriah/2026 CE.
“Confirmed,” stated KPK Spokesman Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Budi further noted that the individuals arrested were being transported to KPK’s Red and White Building headquarters in Jakarta.
The KPK has 1 x 24 hours to determine the status of those arrested in the sting operation in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).
Previously, the KPK initiated the first sting operation of 2026 by apprehending eight individuals on 9-10 January 2026. The arrests concerned alleged bribery in tax examinations within the North Jakarta Medium Tax Service Office under the Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance for the period 2021-2026.
The second sting operation occurred on 19 January 2026, when the KPK confirmed the arrest of Madiun Mayor Maidi. The anti-corruption agency announced on 20 January 2026 that Maidi was named a suspect in alleged corruption involving extortion with a modus operandi of project counterparts and CSR funds and other payments or gratification within the Madiun City Government, East Java.
On 19 January 2026, the KPK conducted the third sting operation, apprehending Pati Regent Sudewo. On 20 January 2026, the KPK announced Sudewo as a suspect in alleged extortion in the appointment of village officials within Pati Regency Government, Central Java.
The fourth sting operation occurred on 4 February 2026 at the Medium Tax Service Office in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. The arrest was related to the tax refund process within the office.
On 4 February 2026, the KPK announced the fifth sting operation related to the importation of counterfeit goods. One of those arrested was former Director of Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance Rizal, who was serving as Head of the West Sumatera Regional Customs and Excise Office.
The sixth sting operation was revealed on 5 February 2026, concerning alleged corruption in the handling of a 6,500 square-metre land dispute at Depok District Court, West Java. The KPK named Depok District Court I Chairperson I Wayan Eka Mariarta, Depok District Court Vice Chairperson Bambang Setyawan, and PT Karabha Digdaya Director General, a subsidiary of the Ministry of Finance, as suspects.
