Duren Sawit Police Station finds Schedule G drugs during night raid
Duren Sawit Police Station found Schedule G drugs during a night raid on Wednesday (27 May) in Jalan Pondok Kopi, East Jakarta.
Schedule G drugs are known to be consumable only under medical supervision and with a doctor’s prescription.
“During yesterday’s raid, we found Schedule G drugs from motorbike riders and van drivers,” said Reskrim Unit Chief of Duren Sawit Police Station, Bayu Indra Praga, in Jakarta on Thursday.
Police conducted a static checkpoint, stopping two- and four-wheeled vehicles passing through the area.
Officers checked vehicle documents, driver identities, and luggage to ensure no bladed weapons or other prohibited items were present.
“We also found vehicles without proper documentation,” said Bayu.
He stated that every passing vehicle was thoroughly inspected.
Officers requested drivers to show vehicle documents, identity cards, and open motorcycle seats and luggage for security checks.
“We want to ensure vehicles passing through do not carry bladed weapons,” Bayu said.
Additionally, Bayu explained that Schedule G drugs were first found on two youths, identified as A and S, riding a motorbike.
Shortly after, officers found similar illegal drugs from a van driver stopped during the raid.
However, after thorough checks of multiple vehicles, police confirmed no bladed weapons or other dangerous items were found.
Besides addressing violations, the raid aimed to create a sense of safety for the public, especially at night.
Police believe street crime remains a potential threat in various parts of the capital, so surveillance must be strengthened.
Bayu added that vehicle raids would continue regularly as a preventive measure to maintain public safety and order in the Duren Sawit Police Station jurisdiction.
“This static checkpoint will continue to anticipate street crime, which is currently prevalent in several locations across the capital,” he said.
