Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta City Government is redirecting the relocation of residents from Kampung Bilik, Kamal, Kalideres sub-district, to apartment complexes in other areas. “The apartment complexes in West Jakarta are full, so the relocation will be to Nagrak, Rorotan, and Pulo Jahe apartment complexes,” said Kamal sub-district head Edy Sukarya when confirmed in Jakarta, Thursday.

Edy said that 131 families from Kampung Bilik will be relocated. Nine families have been relocated to several apartment complexes in West Jakarta, but hundreds of other families will be relocated to apartment complexes in other areas.

“There are four families in the Tegal Alur apartment complex, three families in the Pesakih apartment complex, and one family in the Rawa Bebek apartment complex because he is single,” he said.

Edy said that the selection of apartment complexes for the Kampung Bilik residents who will be relocated was based on the capacity of the apartment units in the Jakarta area.

“First, it’s about the availability of space. Because the apartment complexes in West Jakarta are indeed full,” he said.

Edy also ensured that the residents affected by the relocation will receive rent subsidies from the government.

Regarding socialization, Edy claimed that his party is actively visiting residents to provide socialization and conduct discussions. For example, regarding the administration of residents who have lived there for decades.

“Every day (socialization). Thank God, even though the dynamics are indeed as expected, we understand that they have lived there for decades, 30 years,” said Edy.

Today, he said, 15 families were registered for the next wave of relocation.

“Today, 15 families registered. We use a family approach. We understand that they have lived there for 30 years. Of course, there will be challenges and dynamics, but that is normal,” added Edy.

It is known that the relocation of Kampung Bilik residents is being carried out by the local City Government because the location will be used as a new public cemetery.

The procurement of a new public cemetery is being carried out as a solution to the land crisis for graves in the Jakarta area.
