The government is currently working to transform and synchronise policies, innovation and collaboration among regulators, industry experts, academics and global technology players to strengthen Indonesia’s digital sovereignty.

Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Dudung Abdurachman said digital transformation must be matched by stronger cybersecurity as part of national resilience and sovereignty.

Dudung also emphasised the importance of applying the security-by-design principle, developing domestic cybersecurity technology and talent, and ensuring secure integration of national data.

“In this context, Peruri’s strategic role in developing high-security technology to support national digital trust has also been highlighted,” Dudung said in a statement on Wednesday (21 October 2026).

Under the mandate of Presidential Regulation No. 82 of 2023, Peruri has been designated Indonesia’s GovTech provider. The state-owned high-security technology company is also tasked with accelerating the country’s digitalisation.

“This is to support the transformation of an integrated, reliable and highly secure Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE),” he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto stressed the importance of mastering strategic technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, post-quantum cybersecurity and semiconductors.

He called for stronger collaboration between universities and industry to accelerate the conversion of research into technological products. Brian also said universities would support the development of Peruri’s human resources through further education, including master’s and doctoral degrees, and research partnerships in chip technology.

“Let us build Indonesia’s technological future, not merely so our nation can keep pace with global developments, but so that Indonesia can also help create the future,” he said.

Peruri President Director Teguh Arief Indratmoko said the company had spent more than five decades helping safeguard national sovereignty by printing strategic physical documents, including rupiah banknotes, passports, stamps, excise bands and land certificates.

“Now, amid the civilisational shift towards the digital era, Peruri has transformed into a technology company that guarantees the authenticity of electronic documents, systems and digital identities,” Teguh said.

At the Peruri Digital Summit 2026, which was designed to align strategic efforts with President Prabowo’s vision and direction, Teguh said the nation’s future sovereignty would be determined by its ability to achieve independence in advanced technology.
