Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA) has emphasised its commitment to supporting Indonesia’s energy transition and digital connectivity needs through synergies in digital infrastructure and responsible energy transition.

This commitment is being realised through the acceleration of new and renewable energy (EBT) adoption, the transformation of sustainable mining practices, and the expansion of digital infrastructure via AI solutions and equitable access to information.

“In line with that, we continue to strengthen operational excellence through the implementation of greener, more efficient, and sustainable practices, from improving efficiency, optimising energy and resource use, operational digitalisation, to measurable reductions in emissions and waste,” said DSSA’s Vice President Director Lokita Prasetya in an official statement in Jakarta on Thursday.

In sustainable mining practices, the company has implemented the acceleration of operational fleet electrification (EV fleets) at PT Borneo Indobara (BIB), which cuts operational costs while pioneering the transition to green mining in the mining sector.

In its EBT portfolio, the company operates an integrated 1 gigawatt (GW) solar panel factory in the Kendal Industrial Estate (KEK), as well as geothermal project development through PT DSSR Daya Mas Sakti.

With potential reaching 440 megawatts (MW), the company is now accelerating exploration in six regions, including Cisolok and Cipanas in West Java, up to Sumatra, Flores, and Central Sulawesi.

“To strengthen technical and operational capabilities, DSSA is also forging strategic partnerships with PT FirstGen Geothermal Indonesia, a subsidiary of Energy Development Corporation (EDC),” said Lokita.

Furthermore, the company is bolstering its business in the digital infrastructure and technology sector through a partnership with iFLYTEK to accelerate AI-based digital transformation in Indonesia, including the development of various AI solutions (AI use-cases) and LLM (Large Language Model)-based analytics capabilities SPARK.

This synergy is designed to deliver a smarter and more efficient digital ecosystem across various industrial sectors, particularly healthcare, education, telecommunications, and digital infrastructure.

“The growth in data and connectivity needs is the main driver of our digital business development. We see great opportunities to promote equitable digital penetration by addressing existing gaps, while delivering accessible AI-based solutions,” said CEO of PT DSST Mas Gemilang (DSST) Marlo Budiman.

Currently, the company operates a fibre optic network of around 57,000 km, with more than 9 million homepasses and approximately 1 million broadband customers through MyRepublic Indonesia.

In addition, infrastructure strengthening is supported by the development of a national data centre network covering 24 Edge Data Centres in 23 strategic markets from Medan to Manado to ensure low-latency data processing.

Furthermore, the company is preparing Flagship Hub Jakarta SMX01, a Tier-IV AI-ready facility with an initial capacity of 18 MW in the heart of Jakarta’s CBD, scheduled to commence operations in the second half of 2026.

The company sees vast open market opportunities, with around 50 million people not yet optimally served by internet and a national telecommunications market potential of about 29 billion US dollars.

Meanwhile, the fixed broadband market itself is projected to grow by around 10 percent annually in the coming years.

DSSA Director David Audy views Indonesia’s future opportunities, which will heavily adopt artificial intelligence (AI), where this AI adoption will be supported by two main foundations: reliable energy and equitable digital connectivity infrastructure.

“Therefore, DSSA is building both in an integrated manner, maintaining the reliability of current energy supply while accelerating the development of low-emission energy portfolios such as geothermal,” said David.

With this foundation, David stated that the company is in a strategic position as both an enabler and beneficiary of AI adoption growth in Indonesia.
