Jakarta – Cooperation between Indonesia and China in the utilisation of artificial intelligence (AI) continues to expand across various sectors. Recently, PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa (DSSA) and iFlytek, companies from both nations, initiated a partnership for developing and implementing AI solutions in education and healthcare in Indonesia.

The strategic cooperation agreement between the two companies was signed in Hefei, Anhui Province, eastern China. Through this partnership, DSSA, via its digital infrastructure subsidiary PT DSST Mas Gemilang, and iFlytek, a leading Chinese AI development company, will establish a joint venture named PT Brilian Teknologi Sejahtera.

The partnership will develop localised AI solutions tailored to local language and cultural contexts. In the education sector, the company will introduce AI-powered digital whiteboards to support more interactive classroom learning processes.

In healthcare, iFlytek has already developed the “Spark Medical Large Model,” an AI innovation that provides solutions for healthcare services. This AI model has been reported to have undertaken medical licensing examinations, with results demonstrating that the AI outperformed 96.3 per cent of human test participants. The model introduces healthcare service innovations in clinical decision support systems, post-diagnosis management, and evidence-based prescription services.

“Our collaboration represents a commitment to health equity and long-term resilience of Indonesia’s medical infrastructure,” said an iFlytek representative.

This AI innovation is expected to contribute towards addressing several developmental challenges in Indonesia’s education and healthcare sectors, particularly the shortage of teachers and doctors, as well as service quality disparities across regions.

“This is a strategic step to bring world-class AI into Indonesia’s education ecosystem and expand equitable access to quality learning throughout the country,” said DSST CEO Marlo Budiman in a statement following the partnership, which was formalised in late January.

Beyond these two sectors, both parties hope to expand the strategic partnership to other industries, including telecommunications, finance, and energy.
