Jakarta, VIVA – The suspect status in a narcotics case now attached to the former Bima City Police Chief, Adjunct Senior Commissioner (AKBP) Didik Putra Kuncoro, has not yet resulted in detention. The mid-ranking National Police officer remains under special placement (patsus) by the Professional and Security Division (Divpropam) of the National Police.

This situation has raised public questions. Why has a narcotics suspect not yet been detained?

Head of the National Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General Jhonny Edison Isir, spoke up. He affirmed that the legal process against AKBP Didik is continuing, but the officer is currently still undergoing an internal ethics process.

“At present, AKBP DPK has not been detained by Directorate IV of the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) because the individual is still undergoing a special placement process by Divpropam in connection with a code of ethics process that is being further processed,” he said, as quoted on Monday, 16 February 2026.

According to Jhonny, the criminal and ethics mechanisms are being processed in parallel. This means that although AKBP Didik has already been named a suspect by Directorate IV of Bareskrim, he must still undergo ethics proceedings within the Bhayangkara Corps.

The suspect designation was made after a joint team from Paminal and Bareskrim searched AKBP DPK’s private residence in the Tangerang area. A considerable quantity of narcotics and psychotropic substances was found at the location.

The evidence seized included seven clip bags of methamphetamine with a total weight of 16.3 grammes, 50 ecstasy tablets, 19 alprazolam tablets, two Happy Five tablets, and five grammes of ketamine. These findings formed a strong basis for criminal charges against the individual.

In connection with this case, AKBP Didik Putra Kuncoro has been charged under Article 609 Paragraph 2 Letter A of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 on Criminal Adjustments, as well as Article 62 of Law Number 5 of 1997 on Psychotropic Substances.

“The criminal penalties include life imprisonment or a maximum prison sentence of 20 years, and/or a maximum fine of category 6 amounting to 2 billion rupiah, and a maximum prison sentence of 5 years and/or a maximum fine of category 4 amounting to 200 million rupiah,” he said.

The ethics hearing for the inactive Bima City Police Chief, AKBP Didik Putra Kuncoro (DPK), is scheduled to be held on Thursday, 19 February 2026, following his designation as a suspect in an alleged narcotics possession case. The hearing will be conducted at the Professional Accountability Bureau of the National Police’s Professional and Security Division.
